TreeTops Animal Rescue is a 501c3 nonprofit animal adoption organization in southeastern PA dedicated to placing shelter animals into caring, permanent homes. Spring is the time of new beginnings and that's something our foster animals could really use- a new home with someone to love them forever.

OUR "SPECIAL NEEDS" CATS & DOGS

These darling dogs and cats have been through a lot and we are looking for those special people that have a big enough heart to save an animal that needs a little something extra.

Monk is a handsome beagle/spaniel mix rescued from a hoarding situation.  Although still terrifed by new people and situations, he adjusts quickly and once he settles in he is the ultimate lap dog.  He would do best in a home with other dogs as they make him feel more comfortable.

Bumper is a pretty longer-haired black & white adult cat whose owner called her Bumper because she would rub and bump into people's legs purring  affectionately. Unfortunately when her owner went into a nursing home, her relatives got rid of her.  Bumper is very upset now in foster care with so many other animals around, but would do well in a quiet home as an only cat.

Blanca is a beautiful playful young calico girl with the softest fur.  She was rescued from a feral colony and is still very skittish, but in a quiet home slowly warms up and enjoys attention.

URGENTFOSTER FAMILIES NEEDED

The number of animals being euthanized at shelters is staggering - one southern shelter we work with took in 4000 animals last year and were only able to save 1500!  We try to help these shelters by getting out as many as possible so the world will get a chance to meet them, love them, and appreciate them.  We need homes for all our animals till they find their forever homes (usually 2 weeks to 2 months) and the more foster homes we have, the more animals we can save.  It is a wonderful way to give back to our community through volunteering and doesn't take much, just an open heart and a warm shelter for these fur babies to be saved.  For information on fostering click here and for a Foster Application click here. Or contact Andrea at akueny01@yahoo.com if you would like to discuss fostering. Leave a phone number and she will be happy to call you.)

I Rescued a Human Today.

Her eyes met mine as she walked down the corridor peering apprehensively into the kennels.  I felt her need instantly and knew I had to help her. I wagged my tail, not too exuberantly, so she wouldn't be afraid.

As she stopped at my kennel I blocked her view from a little accident I had in the back of my cage. I didn't want her to know that I hadn't been walked today. Sometimes the shelter keepers get too busy and I didn't want her to think poorly of them.

As she read my kennel card, I hoped that she wouldn't feel sad about my past. I only have the future to look forward to and want to make a difference in someone's life. She got down on her knees and made little kissy sounds at me. I shoved my shoulder and side of my head up against the bars to comfort her.

Gentle fingertips caressed my neck; she was desperate for companionship. A tear fell down her   cheek and I raised my paw to assure her that all would be well. Soon my kennel door opened and her smile was so bright that I instantly jumped into her arms.

I would promise to keep her safe. I would promise to always be by her side. I would promise to do everything I could to see that radiant smile and sparkle in her eyes. I was so fortunate that she came down my corridor.   So many more are out there who haven't walked the corridors. So many more to be saved. At least I could save one.

I rescued a human today.
